Meet Samantha Foster

Hello! My name is Samantha Foster. If you've been around a while, you might recognize me from when I was Joanna's executive intern during the 2019-2020 school year and again from 2022-2023. Back then, I spent most of my time doing research for the Harrison Center's many projects and performed tasks that ranged from baking cookies for the Greatriarch Gathering to developing budget proposals for First Friday to writing donor thank-you letters.

Since then, I've gone to college and have (so far) completed two years of an Archaeology & Classical Civilization degree at the University of Cincinnati. I spend my time reading articles about people who lived thousands of years ago or planning meetings of the Anthropology club. The professional skills I gained as an intern at the Harrison Center have served me especially well in my capacity as the leader of a student organization, where I work with other members of our executive board to invite speakers, research events, and budget club activities.

Not having received my fill yet, I'm returning to the Harrison Center for a third internship, and this time I have my own project – managing the Polklore Micro Museum's artifacts and documentation. Polklore began as a collection of oral histories, artifacts, and artwork telling the story of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. Now, the Harrison Center is working to ensure this collection is appropriately conserved and stewarded by doing the less-glamorous work of double-checking ownership records and ensuring our catalogues meet museum industry standards.

I'm excited to continue my work with the Harrison Center this summer and see so many of your faces again. All the best!
