Chasing Light by Justin Vining |
For the month of May, the Harrison Gallery is exhibiting Chasing Light by Justin Vining, a series of oil landscapes depicting luminous January skies, sun-bathed western mountains, and dappled green forests.
Chasing Light showcases scenery not only from urban Indianapolis but also from broader Indiana and the western United States. As a traveling plein air artist, Vining always has his supplies ready and available in his truck for spontaneous creation on the road.
This show can be viewed anytime in the Harrison Gallery through May during Gallery Hours: Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The works can be viewed and purchased through June via our online gallery. Read the full blog here.

Between Here and Somewhere by Amiah Mims |
Have you ever felt the fear of starting something—whether it's a creative project, a work task, or even an act of self-care—because part of you believes it must be perfect to be worth doing? That feeling is perfectionism, a struggle artist Amiah Mims faces daily, and the impetus behind her newest body of work.
In this collection, Mims chose to make space for this practice, for letting go of that perfectionist impulse. She "hope[s] it could also offer something healing, grounding, or at least a sense of understanding for the viewer, especially in these chaotic times."

May Reverie by Kristi Marsh Watson |
This May, the Harrison Center's Lift Gallery proudly presents May Reverie, a solo exhibition by artist Kristi Marsh Watson. Deeply personal and joyfully nostalgic, the show is a love letter to May in Indianapolis, a time when the city sheds the gray of winter, blossoms burst open, and the unmistakable hum of racing fills the air.
For Watson, May has always been magical. Her childhood was shaped by memory-making traditions centered around the Indianapolis 500. Her family didn't just watch the race, they celebrated it as a month-long season of joy, community, and renewal. Now, as a mother, she shares those same experiences with her daughter, passing down the reverie.
