American Reflections

Hank & Dolly's Gallery is exhibiting Kyle Morgan's newest body of work, titled American Reflections, an eclectic mix of pieces featuring historical imagery and American symbolism.

As an homage to the Fourth of July, Kyle Morgan's show features traditional symbols like fireworks and American flags. In one pencil drawing, a male veteran holds up an unfurled flag, and in another, several people sitting above a parking lot lean back to watch magnificent fireworks burst above their heads.

Morgan also incorporates a historical emphasis in several pieces. A mixed media sculpture titled American Myth and Legend pairs cutouts of historical paintings and George Washington's face with a pioneer figurine against a backdrop of golden mountains and a Conestoga wagon. Another work, a collage, includes old-fashioned snapshots of cowboys, horses, and rocky mountain ridges with little cowboy boots sprinkled throughout.

American Reflections spans various mediums, including collages, watercolor, oil pastel, and pencil. Morgan also showcases recycled sculptures that take the form of shadow boxes or shrines, created from an eclectic collection of found objects. His work is intentional, layered, and thought-provoking. Gold, orange, and sepia tones weave throughout many of the pieces in the show, the warm colors giving a sense of nostalgia and retrospection. His varied subjects and mediums create a layered depth in each work, inviting engagement and reflection. Come be intrigued and surprised by the diverse, unique pieces in American Reflections
