Meet Saebella
Hi! I'm Saebella Sanders, a senior in high school, and I've been homeschooled all through high school. Homeschooling has given me the flexibility to take several college-level courses at Marian University, where I discovered my deep love for art and art history. It also gives me extra time to intern at the Harrison Center, an opportunity I'm incredibly excited about. I'll primarily work at the Polklore Micro Museum and support the Harrison Center's broader efforts, especially on First Fridays. After I graduate this spring, I plan to study art history and dance in college, so I'm even more excited to understand how art and museum work can come together during my time here.
I've lived in Indianapolis my whole life, and my love for history was sparked at an early age by my mom as we explored local and general history because it's one of her favorite things as well. I like to think her passion sparked my passion within me. I'm especially passionate about Black history, and as someone of mixed-race heritage, learning about the past has helped me understand more about myself and where I come from. I also value stories from the community, though, so working in the Micro Museum, Polklore, and learning about the Greatriarchs is a dream come true. Besides history, I've also studied various subjects from abnormal psychology to poetry in America, and it's given me a love for learning. Honestly, I would say it's one of my hobbies!
Of course, I do have hobbies outside of school. I have a strong passion for dance; I've been performing for as long as I can remember and have trained pre-professionally with Iibada Dance Company for the past six years. I also enjoy making art and listening to music, which is a whole other passion. I'm currently working on my record collection and all the concerts I plan to go to in 2026. Outside of work or dance, you'll always catch me with my headphones, streaming my new favorite artist. I'm so excited to bring my love for creativity, storytelling, and community to the Harrison Center and gain hands-on experience that will shape my future in the arts.
