All Night Boogie
Warren Beal finds inspiration everywhere–whether in blues music, padlocks on the side of the road, or the city of Indianapolis–Beal's finger is on the creative pulse of the world around him, and his world is full of possibility. All Night Boogie is an homage to the spirit of the blues and to the place Beal calls home.
Beal is an assemblage artist using found objects to create eclectic work that harmonizes together. Sometimes Beal will find an object and immediately know what he wants to pursue with it; other times he allows the object to reveal what it wants to him, sometimes years after finding it. "I celebrate the objects themselves and try to interfere with them as minimally as possible. I try to let the objects be what they are," says Beal.
The search for objects is a practice of connectivity and cultivating meaning for Beal: "I'll maybe never know who lost an object, but it is a connection that I now have to that individual, and I like to have that in the back of my mind." While some may say the discarded items Beal collects are trash, Beal sees the items as a way to bring attention to the present and to find meaning in the world.
All Night Boogie is a reference to blues music, which like Beal’s work, is eclectic and energetic. "We live in a crazy chaotic world, but you gotta keep finding enjoyment. I want people to know they just got to keep boogying."
