Hey peoples! It's the best time of the month again. Join us this Friday, November 6th, from
6-9pm as we celebrate the opening of seven fantastic new exhibitions.
Guests can also enjoy the annual Winter Window Walk around the building, Herron High School Dance Ensemble in the gym, an oral history screening on the historic Lockerbie Square neighborhood in the Sky Gallery, and delicious bites from Indi Taco.
In the Harrison Gallery & Gallery Annex, Magic Mountain by Kyle Ragsdale. This collection of oil paintings brings together figures of mystery in an anticipation of the unknown. The people and animals in each piece float around in fantastical colors of play as Ragsdale utilizes a monotype style, with each mountain drawing the viewer forward with thick chunks of paint that further mold each scene.
In the City Gallery, Seasons Shift by Justin Vining. Working en plein air throughout the seasons, Justin Vining sets up his easel on Indianapolis streets, parks, and neighborhoods to capture the city as it unfolds in real time, from summer's long, golden light to the quiet hush of a fresh snowfall.
In the Speck Gallery, Orbital Plein by Josh Rush. Bringing together two formative chapters of his practice, an Oxbow Fellowship and recent graduate work, this collection of oil paintings by Rush offers a varied look at the landscape and his evolving relationship to it.
In the Underground Gallery, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, a juried member group exhibit. Discover stunning landscapes and captivating outdoor paintings from all over Indiana and beyond.
In the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery, Strings Attached by Chad Campbell. This collection of Campbell’s distinctive wire figures, taking on the shape of marionettes, tells a story of breaking free from preconceived notions and closing divisions.
In the Sky Gallery, Finders Keepers by Johnson Simon. Simon’s latest body of work is an invitation to play, asking viewers to search his vibrant canvases for the treasures hidden within. His broad, energetic brushwork encourages viewers to linger, notice, and leave with discoveries of their own.
In the Lift Gallery, osmosis by EMO x blac. What happens when a graffiti artist and a fashion designer swap mediums? In this mixed-media collaboration, Caleb C. Keitt and Kenny Mason (aka EMO x blac) learn from each other through “osmosis,” blending spray paint and fiber, whimsy and hope into some pretty funked-up pieces.
