Journey Into the Dreamworld of Merle Pace |
In her latest show, mysteriously titled The Oneironauts, multimedia artist Merle Pace exhibits her latest creative endeavor in ceramics. Inspired by her lifelong love of ancient mythology, Pace offers an array of brightly colored pieces that invite reflection on the cultures that came before us.
Having spent her childhood learning to make anything she could think of with her mom and sisters, Pace has always had an affinity for making art: "I grew up in the country with my twin and younger sisters, and if we wanted something, our Mom taught us how to make it."
While observing each piece in The Oneironauts, viewers can meditate on how aspects of them feel familiar and consider how she has used her inspiration and creativity to create something new. Viewers can also appreciate the bright colors and intricate details that Pace has incorporated into her work, and how working with clay, which is "of the earth," according to Pace, connects us to the world around us.

Art That Heals: Rust and Stardust |
Rust and Stardust – an anecdote for this year's Complete Life theme - is an annual art show at the Harrison Center featuring art from patients, caregivers, and staff across IU Health. This year's show will feature a range of art media, from Mixed Media on Canvas to acrylic and even photography.
At the University Hospital and Simon Cancer, Complete Life works with the hospital to provide "art therapy," which acts as a way for people who work or live in extended care to express themselves artistically and creatively.
One of the artists, Oliva Ash (patient), shares a comment on her work, a mixed media on canvas, and what it represents to her: "Weathered juxtaposes the reality of living with multiple, degenerative disorders while still choosing to celebrate the light within and around us. This deeply personal work includes 14 gilded metal pieces, mirroring the 14 titanium pieces in Liv's body."

| Listen to New EP Demo by Eden |
"FIRST TIMER is an album of themes I experienced in meeting Martindale Brightwood: themes of generational community and resiliency. I explore these themes in a style of songwriting known as narrative storytelling, with strong imagery, dialogue between the voices, and a narrative plot found not only in each song but throughout the album.
While I know these songs could never tell the full story of Martindale Brightwood, they share my small glimpse into this beautiful neighborhood."

| Meet the 2027 Greatriarchs: Sandra |
We’re excited to begin announcing the 2027 Greatriarchs, featuring Andre Parnell as this year's portrait artist.
“Ms. Sandra Green was a lifelong learner who brought a natural curiosity to everything she does. Born in Martindale-Brightwood and raised in her grandfather’s home, she attended School 56 and Arsenal Technical High School.
Sandra’s inspired mind and deep 'love for the technical things' led her to ITT Technical Institute and later, the University of Phoenix. She continued to have a beautiful passion for learning as she went, marked by her dedication to the Army Reserves, the postal service, the NAACP, and her peers as a Union worker." Watch for more Greatriarchs each week in the newsletter, and find full bios and artist notes in the 2027 calendar. |

Hand-Printed with Love: The 2026 Annual Letter |
Every year, our annual letter arrives in an envelope designed and printed by hand right here at the Harrison Center, and this year’s might look familiar!
The 2026 envelope features some of our favorite places in our historic building, the spots that make this place feel like home. Watch the video to see how it all came together, and keep an eye on your mailbox. When your letter arrives, we hope you’ll take a chance on what’s next with a gift to our Annual Fund. Huge shoutout to our intern-turned-fellow Caroline Otto for all of her hard work in this process, and to Najah Tai for the beautiful video.
