Stats and Them

Stats and Them is William Minion's most recent exhibition. Recent visitors to the Harrison Center will recognize Minion from the December 2025 First Friday and from his show Liminal.

In his newest exhibit, Minion is showing his mural work, which was photographed by his sister. The murals were a trial by fire. Although similar to his other works in graphite, "the murals are a test of patience and [involve] trusting the process of the work that you're doing." Unlike his graphite works on paper, his murals are vibrant yet maintain a sense of grit.

Minion's work is intrinsically motivated. As an EMT, Minion responds to extreme situations and sees the impact they have on people, especially within marginalized communities. This has led Minion to explore themes of sadness, sincerity, and stoicism, with expressions of these becoming identifiers in his work. These are seen in his depiction of both animals and people.

Community means a lot to Minion. Even while painting, he asks bystanders for their opinions on color choices and their thoughts on his work. When talking with him about his work, he shared this: "Public art isn't meant to be a single person imposing their ideas on the world, but rather making something for the public; they contribute to an environment whether they think they do or not." His work is a back-and-forth with the people around him, showing how deeply he cares for others.
