Through the Lens
Quintin Griffin has been capturing the world through a camera lens since holding his first Polaroid camera in the early 70's. His skill and interest have only evolved through the years and brought him to where he is now–pursuing photography with his Canon Rebel digital camera.
Griffin’s black-and-white photography captures his daily life; many images are of Indianapolis, Richmond, and other places across Indiana where he spends his time. “The places that I have had the pleasure of taking photos of have put me in a space and time that was captured at that location and can't be repeated again,” says Griffin.
Griffin’s photographic process relies on his instincts. He is often struck by nature or architecture that prompts him to stop in his tracks and capture the moment. While his process is intuitive, he is also inspired by places and their historical value and seeks to place the viewer in a position to see the work in a historical context.
“It's my hope that the viewer takes a true look at the photos and places themselves in these spaces of the familiar and the unfamiliar,” says Griffin about his photography. These photos inspire the viewer to take the time to see these structures in a new light and appreciate the aspects that make them unique.
