In the Harrison Gallery, Dust by Jay Parnell. This collection of oil paintings on wood panel serves as a meditation on our own ephemerality. We exist in a constant state of shedding and becoming, intimately connected to the debris we attempt to sweep away. By rendering the invisible visible, Parnell’s art challenges the perception of dust as something to be cleared, reframing it instead as a poetic archive of existence and a quiet monument to passing time.
In the City Gallery, Tending by Morgan Binkerd. In her latest body of work, Binkerd reflects on the creative act of building a life, drawing parallels between her personal journey in Indianapolis and her art-making practice. Through her work, including paintings on sycamore tree bark, she explores the unseen labor of nurturing life, embodying the vital acts of care and transformation inherent in both nature and creativity.
In the Gallery Annex, Inner Peace on a Budget by Yasha Persson. Through this collection, Yasha explores the noble, ridiculous quest for Satori on a dime. By stitching together antique illustrations, forgotten typography, and weathered scraps of history, these two-dimensional collages prove that you don't need a golden temple to find illumination-just a pair of scissors, a decent bargain bin, and a heavy dose of satire.
In the Speck Gallery, LAHI: Weaving Filipino American Stories in Indiana, co-curated by Jingo M. de la Rosa and April Knauber. This group exhibition brings together artists from across Indiana in celebration of Filipino American History Month. Through new and existing works exploring identity, ancestry, immigration, community, and cultural preservation, the artists convey the complexity, resilience, and joy of the Filipino American experience.
In the Underground Gallery, Rust and Star Dust, a CompleteLife group exhibit. Artwork created by caregivers, patients, and staff of the IU Health Simon Cancer Center. Each individual piece tells a story of the personal journey of the artist, and this show demonstrates the power of the arts for human connection.
In the Sky Gallery, Remnants and Fractures by Quincy Owens. This show comprises two bodies of work that play off each other, with stark black-and-white resin pieces set against a group of vivid paintings. Owens seeks to explore how the left and right hemispheres of his brain work together but separately, exploring beauty in fractures and faults.

In the Harrison Gallery, Pursuit of the Muse by Stephanie Spay. In her latest series of oil paintings, Spay explores the transformative power of intuition in a vibrant dialogue with color, seeking to reveal the inherent creativity within. This body of work embodies acts of pursuit and honor of the muse, prioritizing presence and curiosity over the confines of expectation and judgment.
In the Gallery Annex, Family Matters by Lauren Saunders, Stephanie Spay, & Kate Orr. This collection of oil paintings explores the quiet and not-so-quiet moments of family life. Through still lifes, intimate interiors, and figurative works, each artist reflects on the people, places, and everyday experiences that define family.
In the Speck Gallery, The Way Home by Kristi Marsh Watson. Through 2D mixed-media paintings created using an array of art supplies and natural materials, Marsh Watson explores the complexities of middle adulthood. She captures an introspective journey through changing relationships, landscapes, the passage of time, and most importantly, finding home within oneself.
In the City Gallery, A Closer Look by Jason Bailey. Experience the talent of impressionist plein air painter Jason Bailey, who is known for capturing fleeting light, atmosphere, and the energy of a scene through bold, expressive brushwork crafted from direct observation outdoors. This collection of oil paintings made on location invites viewers to slow down and notice the quiet, fleeting details that reveal themselves only with closer attention.
In the Underground Gallery, Stories From a Kite Runner: The Human Desire for Freedom by Qahar Behzad. This immersive exhibition celebrates the beauty, resilience, and rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan through a collection of paintings and handmade kites by Afghan artist Qahar Behzad. Surrounding visitors overhead, a sky of colorful kites transforms the gallery into a space of wonder, inviting audiences to experience the joy, creativity, and symbolism of flight.
In the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery, Whimsy by Kyrie Lewis. Intimate watercolor scenes pair with immaculate acrylics to highlight the important pursuit of whimsy. Lewis invites us to look deeper into an enchanting world of story and fascination to find solace in the midst of unremarkable pain and uncertainty.

On the Sky Deck, Hannah Kaminer, a musician from Asheville, NC, will perform songs from her two 48-hour residencies. Eden Pixcar-Byeon from Guatemala will perform music from her five-week residency.
In the Underground Gallery, from 7-8 pm, Sophia Swain will debut her album Cardinal, written and recorded during her internship.
In the Historic Gymnasium, enjoy performances by Suspended Animation Aerials throughout the evening.

Greatriarch Gathering
Join the Harrison Center on the second Thursday of every month for Greatriarch Gathering.
This monthly event provides the space and time for our senior neighbors in Martindale-Brightwood to connect, socialize, and learn.
Art Dish with Israel Solomon
On the second Monday evening of each month, the Harrison Gallery transforms into a unique dining experience.
A fully set table descends from the rafters as lyrical dancers entertain. Guests enjoy a multi-course fixed menu featuring gourmet dishes, accompanied by a curated conversation with the featured artist. With each course, a local sommelier selects wine pairings to heighten the experience.
Art Dish tantalizes the taste buds and fosters a creative community atmosphere where art and gastronomy meet. Join us for an evening of fine dining, art, and lively conversation.

Still Life Under Moonlight by Israel Solomon

Enjoy these openings:
In the Harrison Gallery, Oasis by Israel Solomon. This show is an exploration of refuge, comfort, and renewal. Created during a transition from acrylic to oil paint, these abstract still lifes and dreamlike landscapes embrace intuition. Rather than telling a single story, the work invites viewers to interpret each piece from their experiences and discover an oasis of their own.
In the Gallery Annex, Remnants and Fractures by Quincy Owens. This show comprises two bodies of work that play off of each other, stark black-and-white resin pieces against a group of vivid paintings. Owens seeks to explore how the left and right hemispheres of his brain work together but separately, exploring beauty in fractures and faults.
In the Speck Gallery, What Was Carried, a group show. This exhibition brings together artists who have survived sexual abuse and are sharing their experiences through creative expression. Rather than offering explanations or resolutions, the works create space for honesty, dignity, and healing, demonstrating how art can help transform fragmented experiences into shared stories.
In the City Gallery, Nature in the City by Amy Martin. Martin celebrates the ways nature and urban life coexist in Indianapolis. Through oil paintings and paper and wire sculptures, the exhibition highlights the native plants, insects, trees, waterways, and skies that bring life to the city, instead of opposition.
In the Sky Gallery, IMMERSION by Jason Zickler. In his large-scale epoxy resin and acrylic paintings, Jason Zickler layers saturated neon color beneath glass-like resin, an invitation to step inside the surface. Exploring tension between control and spontaneity, these works transform painting from an object to observe into an atmosphere to experience.
In the Underground Gallery, Q. Is this all there is? A. Probably is a series of acrylic paintings by Cameron Omega that explores the idea that two conflicting truths can exist at once. Inspired by Renaissance compositions and monochromatic works by Mark Tansey, the paintings depict scenes from everyday life that feel both mundane and extraordinary.
In the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery, Third Person by Johnny McKee and Kyle Ragsdale. McKee and Ragsdale use the harmony and contrast of their artistic styles to have conversations with each other through a variety of mediums including oil paint and collage. With each pass, the pieces diversify in their exposition and reveal new landscapes, all through an unspoken dialogue.

In the Historic Gymnasium, explore Mini FoodCon 2026! This unconventional, annual convention will celebrate Indiana's food culture and heritage. Enjoy delicious, locally baked food items and support Indy small businesses at FoodCon’s bake sale, run by Emily Brungard of @tasteindianapolis.
On the Sky Deck, live Bossara music will be performed throughout the evening. Come dance and listen to smooth Brazilian jazz!
In the Courtyard, engage with Se(e) Change, a large-scale public installation by artists Michelle Walkey-Thornburg and Aaron Thornburg.
Hungry? Grab a bite across the courtyard from Indi Taco food truck for delicious and authentic Indian-Mexican cuisine. Cool off with free ice cream at the Courtyard entrance!

Visitors can take in-person gallery tours Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Online galleries will open on August 8th. You can make an appointment or view the online galleries at harrisoncenter.org/buy-art.

FoodCon is an unconventional convention celebrating the art and culture of food in Indiana.
FoodCon is your opportunity to connect with Indiana's food culture, celebrate local innovation, and embrace environmentally conscious food practices.
Explore a variety of booths featuring topics from hydroponics to raising goats and chickens. This event invites the community to:
• learn sustainable practices
• discover creative ways to prepare food
• and gain the knowledge to share their foodie findings with family and friends.
In 2010, the Harrison Center joined forces with the Cultural Development Commission, Butler University’s Center for Urban Ecology, and Indiana Humanities to launch the inaugural FoodCon. Since then, it has grown into a beloved event celebrating Indiana’s rich food heritage and fostering community.

Engage in meaningful conversations while enjoying light refreshments at this free monthly event designed to foster social capital among diverse professionals in Indianapolis. Art of Networking creates opportunities for relationship-building and networking, connecting attendees with the vibrant arts community at the Harrison Center.
Launched in 2021, Art of Networking began as a collaboration between the Indianapolis Recorder and InnoPower, in partnership with the Harrison Center. This ongoing event aims to help diverse professionals grow and support one another in their ventures.

PreEnact 2026
Come celebrate the past, present, and future of Martindale-Brightwood at PreEnact, a free community festival presented by MOVE Martindale Brightwood.
Part art festival, part interactive theater, PreEnact invites neighbors to help act out the community's shared vision for its future.
This year's celebration includes a special tribute: the second annual Tysha Hardy-Sellers Excellence in Leadership Award, honoring the late Gina Fears, a beloved community builder who helped shape the neighborhood's Quality of Life Plan. The event also marks a major investment, $5.5 million from KIPP Indy with a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., to expand opportunities for Martindale-Brightwood students and families.
Activities include:
Parade: Neighbors and business owners can parade down the Monon to celebrate the historic Martindale Brightwood neighborhood.
Tours: Guests can tour the Polklore Micro-Museum, historic Polk Stables, Faye Gallery, and local public art. Guests can also take a free neighborhood history walking tour with Sampson Levingston.
Entertainment: Guests can attend a community sing, a unique Double Dutch jump rope Concert with visiting artist Jeremiah Ince, and enjoy live dance. Local musicians, including Men in the Fire, will also perform.
Networking: Business people can attend a networking workshop, porch party, or business networking hour
Dining: Solely Wine, Provider Coffee, and three food trucks will be open for attendees to taste and experience.

Third Thursday History Workshop
Experience an engaging and informative workshop hosted by Sampson Levingston of Through2Eyes on the third Thursday of each month from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Held at the Polklore Micro-Museum in the Polk Stables, this free event is open to all.
This series involves a lot less walking and a little more talking than his famous Walk & Talks, featuring 45–60-minute presentations about the history of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood and the inspiring stories of its community.

In the Harrison Gallery, Patina by MJ Coyle. Coyle’s abstract paintings explore the intersection of memory, landscape, and imagination through layered color and expressive mark-making. Influenced by his background in design, these suggestive compositions invite viewers to discover their own narratives within shifting forms and terrain.
In the Gallery Annex, Unfettered by Kami Noland. This collection of paintings, drawings, assemblages, housewares, furniture, and clothing reflects Noland’s creative wanderings and resistance to being confined to a single artistic practice. Rooted in freedom, experimentation, and resourcefulness, the work celebrates play, curiosity, and the power of creative expression shaped by both limitation and imagination.
In the Speck Gallery, Take Care by Abby Dennis and Lindsey Lord. This collaborative exhibition transforms discarded and natural materials into intricate artworks through slow, meditative processes, including weaving, papermaking, sewing, and salvaging textiles.
In the City Gallery,Observed, a collection of original oil paintings by Courtland Blade. Blade’s signature style is inspired by recognizable Indianapolis spaces and everyday scenes, along with a few newer pieces that reflect the direction of his studio practice.
