WHO WE ARE

The Harrison Center is a force for equitable cultural development in Indianapolis and an advocate for community arts, education, and inclusive programming. We are a 65,000-square-foot, three-story historic building located on 16th and Delaware Streets on the near northside of Indianapolis, committed to addressing community problems with cultural solutions: art, music, education, and grassroots activism. We cultivate emerging art patrons by fostering accessible gallery experiences so everyone can participate.

OUR MISSION

The Harrison Center seeks to be a catalyst for renewal in the city of Indianapolis by fostering awareness, appreciation, and community for arts and culture.

EQUITY & INCLUSION

Art is powerful. The Harrison Center seeks to harness the power of art to know and love people and be a catalyst for renewal.

The Harrison Center serves and values all persons in Indianapolis. We envision an equitable city where engagement in the arts is available to all regardless of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or disability. We commit to serving the arts and cultural community, its patrons, and all residents of our city.

We are an organization whose resources are accessible to artists, creatives, students, neighbors, and other audiences, through which their stories, experiences, and voices may be heard. When people and stories are known and loved, they are not discarded or erased; rather, they are elevated and appreciated, encouraging and challenging others along the way.

We are an organization that recognizes and responds to the unique needs of diverse communities and individuals through our activities, events, and programs. We connect artists with diverse populations in our community so all can belong to, learn from, support, and engage in the arts sector.

Our firm commitment to this purpose will foster a vibrant and equitable inclusive creative life for all.
