Strengthening Artists. Strengthening Indianapolis.

Since Cierra Johnson became a studio artist in January 2022, she has found that being here has strengthened her art and is now giving her more opportunities to influence her community. And her experiences are just part of the success the Harrison Center had in the past year to fulfill its mission of being for the arts and for the city.

Donors and partners like you make it possible for the Harrison Center to build on the successes of this year and continue to support art, artists, and Indianapolis in 2024.

Strengthening Artists

Studios & Exhibitions

40 studio artists called the Harrison Center home and 440 artists have been shown in our eight galleries in 2023.

Art & Music Residencies

The Harrison Center hosted nine residencies in 2023. Seaux Chill completed his 2022 Joyce Awards project, “Deep Currents.” We sent eight artists to Greece and two to India for residencies.

Storytelling Drawing Sessions

More than 40 stories were shared by community members during Storytelling Drawing Sessions.

Strengthening Indianapolis

Porch Party Indy

In May, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway passed out 500 porching kits. Later in the month, neighbors in Martindale-Brightwood held their first community-wide porch party event.

Bloombox Festival

4,000 attended Bloombox Festival (formerly IMAF) in June for a day of music from local bands and browsing the wares of more than 100 artisans.

FoodCon 10

In August, FoodCon returned, featuring real neighbors who engage creatively with food sustainability.
