Celebrating Excellence: Intern Destiny Tims Wins Big

We're thrilled that our video intern, Destiny Tims, has won the Excellence in Summer Service Award (ESSA)! When we nominated her through MCCOY and the Indy Summer Youth Programs, we knew she had something special. This $1,000 educational scholarship award that Destiny received celebrates over 20 high school and college students each year who bring exceptional dedication to Summer Youth Programs. Destiny certainly earned her spot.

What made Destiny shine? She had this great way of seeing stories everywhere. Whether she was filming Greatriarchs sharing at Storytelling Drawing, capturing volunteers in action, or documenting the genuine curiosity of art patrons on First Friday, Destiny found the heart of every moment. She spent countless hours turning lengthy Storytelling Drawing sessions into perfect bite-sized clips, complete with subtitles so everyone could join the conversation. Her videos became a huge part of how we share what is happening at the Harrison Center. Did you know that the majority of content in our newsletters, on social media, and on our YouTube channel comes from the creative vision of interns like Destiny?

As she heads off to paramedic training (which honestly makes perfect sense—she's drawn to helping people), we're going to miss having Destiny around the Harrison Center. But we're also incredibly proud. This award recognizes what we saw in her every day: someone who shows up ready to go, pays attention to the details that matter, and uses her talents to make others feel seen and celebrated. Way to go, Destiny!
