Step Into the Vibrant World of Reverie in Revolt |
In her Harrison Gallery show, Elise Howell uses her brightly colored, anthropomorphized floral paintings to push back against the constant barrage of information. In an effort to point viewers back to nature and to be aware of their surroundings, Howell crafts mesmerizing compositions that animate the paintings.
While Howell paints in her studio, she gathers compositional and color palette inspiration by first doing plein air studies outside in her garden. She specifically looks for moments when it appears two flowers are interacting and "having a conversation." Let this show inspire you to take time away from the bombardment of news and information and spend time outside, enjoying and caring for the green, growing things.

Awaken Your City: A Love Letter to Indianapolis |
On a morning walk through Indianapolis, Emily Winslow's idea for Awaken Your City was born. As she passed the Indy Arts Garden, she noticed the sun reflecting off the building's blue-green glass. Where darkness was, light now radiated, and it conquered the city as the day began.
Living in Indianapolis for seven years now, Winslow is familiar with iconic and recognizable spots around the city, many of which make appearances in her show. But she also showcases what she refers to as "quieter pockets of the city." She shares, "They are places that I love and make Indianapolis feel like home."

| Celebrate Basile Studio Naming |
This past Friday, we were honored to name artist Beth Guipe Hall’s studio after local philanthropists Frank and Katrina Basile, world travelers with a deep commitment to the arts.
“My philanthropy stems from my personal mission to help people, particularly those who are marginalized, to achieve their potential and become all they can become and achieve their goals,” says Frank.
Following the unveiling, the Basiles were gifted thoughtfully illustrated artwork, hand-drawn by intern Kyliah Stewart. We’re grateful for Basile's generosity and look forward to the wonderful things to come in this space. |

| Colorful Collaborations at Work |
Two years ago, we began a series of educational architectural videos narrated by our fearless history buff, Kipp Normand. This tour was later brought to life via augmented reality, and provided a way for people to learn about our building in real time.
Fast forward to this year. A partnership with artist Lorie Lee Andrews blossomed into a beautifully illustrated coloring book, complete with embedded QR codes that direct viewers to our video series, available anywhere, anytime.
