Back and Forth: The Making of Third Person |
In their show Third Person, artists Kyle Ragsdale and Johnny McKee have come together to create a collection of collaborative pieces that simultaneously highlight their own styles while creating something entirely new when combined. By working together to create these pieces, McKee and Ragsdale demonstrate what makes their styles unique and provide space for viewers to appreciate how well they complement each other.
For each piece, they would work on it in their own studio, then carry it through the building's winding stairs and hallways to the other person's studio. They would pass each piece back and forth in this way, communicating through the art about which direction it would go. Some pieces were passed back only 2-3 times, while others were alternated as many as 20 times.

Join us this Friday from 1:30-2:30pm for Storytelling Drawing at the Polklore Micro-Museum! Our storyteller this week is Tysha Hardy-Sellers.
A Martindale-Brightwood native, Hardy-Sellers is the former president and CEO of the Edna Martin Christian Center, leading holistic community programs for her community. She is recognized for her strong leadership and commitment to helping individuals build successful futures.

I will: -Help curate and make continuous enhancements to the Polklore Micro-Museum to maximize its impact as the collection grows.

More Than a Museum: The Story of Polklore |
Since its inception in the summer of 2024, many people have heard of the Polklore Micro-Museum or visited it in some capacity. But we still get the question: What exactly is Polklore? Enter into the story of the neighborhood from inside the space with a video by Najah Tai, featuring Greatriarch, educator, and longtime friend of the Harrison Center, Dr. Clete Ladd.
Polklore is more than a building. It’s a hub for community and a place to reconnect with the original fabric of Martindale-Brightwood's roots—both the history that came before, and the history still being made. It's a place where people are truly listened to, and artifacts are honored. Every neighborhood has a story, and we’re honored to help further the narrative of one very near and dear to us and many others.
Stop by and experience it for yourself at 1533 Lewis St. Mondays from 1–5pm and Fridays from 9am–5pm.
