Meet Bridget
Hi there! My name is Bridget Peck. I currently live in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, but I grew up in Tanzania. I am a rising senior at Covenant College in Georgia, and I am an Art major with a double concentration in 2D Arts and Art History! I have loved art ever since I could hold a crayon, and I'm always looking for new ways to explore and integrate it into my life and the lives of the people around me.
My current artistic endeavors primarily revolve around painting and collage, and I will always be drawn to color and the interaction between art and people. In large part, this comes from what I grew up around, because fun colors and patterns always surrounded me, and art was almost always a social thing. At the moment, I am on track to become an art teacher, but I don't yet know which age range I want to teach. In the long term, I would love to move out of the country again and teach at an international school, but I'm just really excited to see what happens!
I heard about the Harrison Center through a talk Joanna gave at my college at the beginning of this past academic year, and I was immediately drawn to it. I am really passionate about using art to build community and foster connections, so I knew I had to get involved somehow. I am looking forward to seeing the workings of the Harrison Center and to witnessing how it uses art to foster community and pursue beauty!
For my internship over the next couple of months, I will mainly help plan PreEnact, a super fun event we will have on July 30th over at Polk Stables. (2-8 pm, be there!) I will also help out at our Polklore Micromuseum. If you're ever around on Mondays or Thursdays, come swing by and visit! I'm very grateful for this opportunity and really looking forward to seeing what comes from it.
