Meet Claire

Hi! My name is Claire Lafiosca. I am originally from Fishers, Indiana, but moved to Indianapolis earlier this year. I learned about the Harrison Center and the opportunity to intern through a friend who had interned at the Harrison Center previously, and many of my new neighbors. Currently, I am a rising junior at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. I am double-majoring in Psychology and Spanish, with minors in Studio Art and Japanese.

I have always been interested in art, and I particularly enjoy ceramics and painting. I have attended many artist talks and gallery exhibitions at the De Pree Art Center on Hope College's campus, so I am very excited to learn about everything that goes on behind-the-scenes of gallery exhibitions and to work in an environment that welcomes artistic innovation. I am also interested in meeting the artists in residence and learning about their stories and their artwork. I always appreciate hearing the story behind a work of art.

The Harrison Center promotes community and awareness of art and culture, which I find very important. I love learning languages, and I think languages are a way to see into the heart of different cultures. I look forward to being a part of a mission that integrates art and culture, two things that I love, as a way to foster a welcoming community in Indy!
