Experience Whimsy in Motion in Fast and Curious |
In their collaborative show Fast and Curious: Driven by Imagination, artist Tashema Davis teams up with her former student, Emily Phillippe, to create a series of Indy 500-inspired works that complement each other in their whimsical, colorful nature. From goats wearing hats to goldfish crackers, these paintings are engaging and the perfect collection to highlight the joyfulness of these two artists.
Philippe's piece, titled Escar-GO, is another perfect example of the humor and playfulness these artists sought to capture in this show. In it, a snail drives a small car from the left side of the painting towards the right across a field of grass and flowers.
With so many uncertainties in the world today, we can all use a little joy and be reminded of how deeply it can improve our lives. This show is full of joy: animals and people doing different activities that add humor and color through their expressions, and each piece is simply fun.

RSA Artists Bring the Good Samaritan to Life |
Every year, the Herron School of Art and Design selects a cohort of artists to participate in a unique program called Religion, Spirituality, and the Arts (RSA), which brings together artists from diverse disciplines to discuss religious texts and respond with creative inquiry. Media in this year's show include visual art, performance art, writing, and music.
The text chosen for 2025-26 is Luke 10:25-37, which contains the parable commonly known as "The Good Samaritan." This year's seminar invites participants to explore themes of identity and otherness, inclusion and exclusion, and the challenges of ethical conviction in a complex world.
This year, the program has added a unique twist by pairing six professional artists with six Herron students. Each participant in the program created a work of art in their chosen discipline, as well as a collaborative piece with another program member, resulting in a unique body of work reflecting on the text.

Celebrate Summer, One Porch at a Time |
It’s been a full month of Porching festivities so far! This past Thursday, we celebrated Polk’s first porch party of the summer with live music from artist Kenn.wav, shared food, and meaningful community connection.
We also had the privilege of hearing from Mike Woodson of Men In The Fire that same day, whose music you can look forward to experiencing at Bloombox 2026.
You can host your own porch party, too! All it takes is picking a day, gathering friends and family, and sharing food and community together. To enter the official Indy 500 Porch Party Decorating Contest, submit photos of your decorated porch at IMS Porching Contest. Don't forget to tag us @harrisoncenterarts so we can follow along with the fun. Happy porching!
