Meet Willa

My name is Willa Allen, and I'm from Bloomington, Indiana! I am a communication major at The University of Indianapolis with a concentration in media. I got connected to the Harrison Center through my older brother, Judah, who was an intern last summer, and he talks very highly of his time here. When Judah talks about his experience here, he talks about how the supportive environment full of creativity helped him to grow, and that sparked my interest! I am particularly interested in the Harrison Center's internship program because I have always been surrounded by the arts and creative minds, my mom is an artist and painter, and my home has always been full of music.

Last summer, I visited the Harrison Center for the Bloombox Festival and fell in love with the space and the organization's focus! Right now, I am the Social Media Manager for The University of Indianapolis' newspaper, The Reflector, and for The University of Indianapolis' Chapel, UIndy Chapel. Last summer, I purchased my first camera and started taking photos! I quickly developed a passion for capturing special moments full of love and joy. I have been developing my skills, my craft, and my photography style, and I now capture photos for clients.

For my future, I would love to manage social media for a senior living community, plan their events, and photograph their community and residents. My goal is to build connections and community within these facilities, increasing happiness and quality of life for these individuals! I have always been passionate about building connections within communities that are often overlooked, and I hope my career can foster that passion.

During my time here at the Harrison Center, I hope to learn more about event planning and all the ins and outs of how events work. I also hope to learn more about marketing on social media and editing long-form interviews or content into short-form social media content! I am so excited and appreciative of this opportunity, and I cannot wait to see how I grow throughout this internship!
