On April 2nd, 2021, join us for a virtual First Friday online! Enjoy these openings online or by social distance appointment, during business hours, M-F, 9-5:
1. “Collective Breathing,” by Shamira Wilson in the Harrison Gallery will explore soil health as a metaphor for community health. This show features mixed media artwork consisting of gouache on rust oxidation printed fabric and paper.
2. Priya Wittman will be debuting “Generations” in the Gallery Annex. The artwork predominantly depicts dualities and opposing characteristics - it’s both subjective and objective, can feel very soft and flexible, but also rigid and concrete, and it is at once circular and linear. Featuring an array of acrylic gouache on canvas and marker on grid paper.
3. Benny Sanders presents "Greatriarchs: Local Stars" in the City Gallery. These new oil paintings of the Greatriarchs give a fresh perspective on these long term residents of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood.
4. Sophia Fisher will present “In the Corner, Taking Up Space” in Hank and Dolly, a series of oil paintings on board. This collection fuses together inanimate objects with female figures and forms in order to illustrate how she often feels like she is the woman in the corner taking up space, unless she is creating
5. “Grind Culture”, a group show curated by Macy Lethco will be presented in City Gallery with the theme of women in skateboarding. Through different mediums, she hopes to display an inclusive and creative skating community.
6. “Our Shot,” a group show in the Underground Gallery featuring local artists celebrating our shared love of basketball. The title also gives artists a platform to encourage Hoosiers to take vaccinations as seriously as they do basketball.

About the Harrison Center
The Harrison Center is a community-based, nonprofit arts organization that seeks to be a catalyst for renewal in the city of Indianapolis. Founded in 2001, the organization’s work is two-fold.
