In Speck Gallery, artist Nick Abstract explores tranquility and aggression through unconventional materials. The materials in question: sawblades, 3d printed shapes, and even a dirtbike, which was brought into the gallery for the opening night of the show. Learn more about this fascinating exhibit by visiting our blog page, where Nick has written a thoughtful blog about his show. Read it here, or check out Protoblade on its online gallery page.

This year alone, we have hosted over 35 neighbors as models for our weekly Storytelling Drawing Sessions. These drawing sessions are unique: the "model" tells their story (they aren't professional models and aren't required to sit still) while artists draw them in whatever style they prefer. The goal: learning to listen to the stories of our neighbors. You can join us for Storytelling Drawing Sessions every Wednesday in City Gallery from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All skill levels are welcome. Please sign up here. |

| Derrick Carter explores his emotional world with thoughtful and reflective paintings. Each of Derrick's pieces sparkles due to the particular process he uses for painting, which involves sand, glue and acrylic.

We believe ice cream is an integral part of any occasion. When the weather warms up, our ice cream cart is outside on First Friday, ready for patrons to grab a free, frozen treat. At the May 5th First Friday, one of our sponsors, Christ Church Cathedral, is serving ice cream and providing music from the Cathedral Choir School and members of the Coro Latinoamericano. Make sure to grab a treat and hear a tune from them.
