A Studio Visit with Lisa VanMeter Walls |
Take a look into the heart of Lisa VanMeter Wall's studio practice. Her Harrison Gallery show, Summer's Imprint, offers a deeply personal and vibrant tribute to the beauty of Indiana's natural world. Through carefully carved basswood and linoleum blocks, she invites viewers to explore the living textures of birdsong, flowering branches, and quiet wildlife moments that populate her new neighborhood in the Old Northside. "Every day, as I walk my sweet dog around our new place, I soak in the wildlife and the beauty of this city," Walls shares. That habit, of slowing down and really seeing what's around her, influenced her show. Learn more about the show by visiting the online gallery + blog. |

| Meet the Intern: Claire Davey |
A recent Wheaton College grad, Claire has been a wonderful asset to our team this summer.
"When I was considering the age-old question of what comes next after graduation, the Harrison Center became a clear answer in its posture towards community interaction. I am excited to work with the Harrison Center as it interacts with its urban context through art-making and storytelling, specifically the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood where the Polklore Museum is based."

From Whiskers to Wings: Speck Gallery's PetCon |
You've heard of GenCon, Comic-Con, VidCon, and even FoodCon—but brace yourselves, Indianapolis: it's time for PetCon, the group show taking over Speck Gallery like a stampede of furry, feathered, and scaled companions. This isn't your typical cat portrait exhibit (though yes, there is a cat or two). Instead, think beyond the scratching post; imagine a dog lost in existential reflection at the foot of an open refrigerator, an enshrined collie, or critters made of glass. This is the pet-themed art show you never knew you needed, now wriggling, chirping, and barking into your heart.
