John Warren is a familiar face around town. In fact, he lives just a few blocks from Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. A Hoosier native, he decided to move to Detroit in 1989 for something a little bit different. It didn't take John long to realize Indianapolis was home, and he moved back in 1992.

Over the years, he has seen many changes in Indy--perhaps the biggest change being that the near-westside neighborhood where he lived and went to school as a child is now the campus of IUPUI. Though a far different city than the one where he grew up, John enjoys all that our ever-changing Indy has to offer, from its bikeability to the variety of cultural offerings that can be found year-round to the many new restaurants that have popped up in recent years.

Warren sometimes meets local celebrities on the job at the Indianapolis International Airport

John has a heart for serving people, whether volunteering or on the job where he has worked as a hospital orderly at IU Med Center, and currently at the Indianapolis Airport where he has been for the last five years. "It's the best job ever", says Warren.

Being in community and being connected is a high priority for him. An art lover, Warren has been attending openings at the Harrison Center for well over a decade. Not only does he own art by Harrison Center studio artists, but he counts many as his friends. One of his favorite annual happenings is the Independent Music + Art Festival, which combines his love of art, music and community all in one big event! He also loves a party where he can cheer on our local sports teams with friends.

John makes the rounds, biking several miles a day to visit his favorite people and places. You might see John biking the Cultural Trail or walking around town. He loves to meet new people, so stop and say hi!
