February First Friday Spotlight: Kevin West |
We're thrilled to welcome fine artist Kevin West into the Harrison Gallery this February! Catch an inside perspective of the show in West's own words: "This is my first solo exhibition in Indiana in five years. I’m excited to share a body of work that continues my exploration of memory, childhood, and warm feelings, which I have titled Forgotten Graces.
This series focuses on intimate moments—children waiting, sitting, observing—captured in ways that honor stillness, tenderness, and emotional depth. Paintings from this series were first presented last April at Sotheby’s Beverly Hills, for the Children of the Sun exhibition, curated by Art Melanated. This exhibition is an invitation to slow down and reconnect with personal memories that feel both deeply individual and universally familiar." |
Around the Harrison Center with Pavel |
We had the pleasure of working with intern Pavel Deakyne over his J-Term with us. Pavel is an aspiring videographer and editor, and hopes to be part of a production team for full feature films.
Over the course of just a couple weeks with us, he helped capture b-roll for various shows, take photos of our programs, and even made a fun video of his own, showcasing various spaces around the Harrison Center. |

Meet the Intern: Jack Mahaffey |
"Greetings! I am currently a senior attending Butler University, graduating this spring with a major in Art and Design and a photography emphasis.
I joined the art scene in 2023, and have had the privilege of working across many materials and methods of making art, including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, and design. I will use this opportunity to intern with the Harrison Center to improve my photo and film skills, learn more about how an art gallery operates, and make a lasting impact on the space and my art career."

Miss Pearl Goes International |
"Bonjour from Paris! Two weeks ago, Indy, the Harrison Center, Martindale-Brightwood, and Miss Pearl herself, went international as last summer’s musician-in-residence, Pascal Glock, performed his funky community anthem “Miss Pearl” in Paris’s historic cabaret district at La Boule Noire.
The performance unfolded in the middle of the crowd, as a moment of grace honoring Greatriarch Miss Pearl. The performance kicks off Martindale-Brightwood: Live in Paris, a festival from February 13-15, featuring a triple concert and live recording for an album releasing March 20." Follow along on our and Pascal's socials to keep up with the latest!
