Savoring the In-Between in The Way Home |

Drawn to landscapes one moves through rather than lands at, Marsh-Watson incorporates roads, rivers, horizons, and views from traveling in the car into her work. She appreciates places that are often treated as background to our focus on getting somewhere else. The show's title itself may "sound like a destination," she says, "but [she's] actually much more interested in the way, the experience of getting there," wherever "there" might be. This fascination with the in-between stemmed from Marsh-Watson experiencing many life transitions at the same time as loved ones in her life were going through transitions of their own. "The space between what was and what will be," is how she describes it.

The Beautiful Mess of Family Matters |
In their group show, oil painters Lauren Saunders, Stephanie Spay, and Kate Orr have come together to create Family Matters, which acts as a play on words: "matters of the family, and things that matter." When she realized this would be quite the undertaking to do a solo show while preparing for another baby, Saunders turned to two of her good friends, who she knew would be able to contribute deeply beautiful and nostalgic works that would fit in perfectly within the theme of motherhood and home life: Stephanie Spay and Kate Orr. In this season of preparation, Saunders still prioritized this show and created a series of still lifes that perfectly capture the home life of a busy family, depicting the scrawled drawings of a young child or a child's toy set next to a centerpiece on a table. Each piece is a perfect reminder of how raising children weaves its way through every aspect of a parent's life, and all the joy and chaos that comes with it. Online Gallery | Blog
