Earlier this year the Harrison Center for the Arts hosted a 5x5 competition for the Maple Crossing Community. Maple Crossing is part of the Great Places 2020 initiative. Asa Gauen and Stefan Eicher had the winning idea, to break a world record for the most sparklers lit simultaneously! It has been a labor of love for Eicher and Gauen, but their hard work and planning will pay off on Saturday August 27th at 6:30pm. It will be more than just a record breaking event. It is also a celebration for the neighborhoods surrounding Tarkington Park. 39th St. will be closed between Meridian and Illinois streets, and food trucks will be there so there will be plenty to do until it's time to light the sparklers.
