Navigate Exit Strategy by Casey Roberts |
This October, in the Harrison Gallery, Casey Roberts' show will draw you into calming blues and scenes of animals existing in nature. These animal depictions reflect the human experience through relatable behavior in how they are responding to certain situations. Aptly titled Exit Strategy, the show's works embody a human experience of being in an uncomfortable or unpleasant situation and finding a way to escape or sidestep the interaction. Roberts is primarily known for his carefully crafted cyanotypes on paper, which, even in their process of creation, show the relationship between man and nature through the use of chemicals, sunlight, and time. The titular work, a cyanotype on paper, is a perfect example of a single moment that encapsulates the human emotions behind the desire to skedaddle.

Encounter the Powerful Women in Between
|
Walking into Boxx The Artist's latest exhibition feels different. The Women in Between isn't your typical gallery experience; it's more like meeting women you should have known about years ago but somehow didn't. Boxx has created what she calls a "portrait montage project" that zeroes in on local grassroots leaders, specifically the dark-skinned Black women whose work often goes unrecognized.
What makes this collection particularly powerful is its focus on Indiana; women from Indianapolis and surrounding areas who share "cultural landscapes and experiences" that connect them beyond just geography. "I want people to walk out of this exhibit carrying a kind of unsettled tenderness," she says. "We are all rough drafts, we're all still becoming."

"I'm a senior at Herron High School, and have been interning at the Harrison Center for a few months now. I've done a little bit of everything, including helping with the annual envelope project and learning some camera work. After I graduate in May 2026, I plan to go to college to get a degree in Social Work so that I can work in community development.
I’m an average gamer and a bookworm. I love The Hunger Games and the Harry Potter series. Learn more about Bridget here. |

Take Flight into Sky Gallery's Newest Show |
Elizabeth Guipe Hall's exhibition Listen has found its home in the Sky Gallery at the Harrison Center, and the pairing couldn't be more apt. A show inspired by bird songs in a gallery named for the very realm where these feathered musicians make their music? It's hard to imagine a better match.
The Indianapolis artist has filled this intimate space with encaustic works that translate the calls of cardinals, woodpeckers, and morning songbirds into something you can see and feel; layers of luminous wax and collage that capture not just sound, but the essence of listening itself. As you move through the exhibition, you might find yourself drawn to look closer, searching for those hidden soundwave charts, or simply letting the colors and textures wash over you.
