Spectacular, a Spectacle by Kyle Ragsdale |
Tucked away in the corner of an upper stairwell lies a tall and narrow painting. In it, impressionistic-like figures assume different seated or standing positions on a trellis. It was this piece that first inspired artist Kyle Ragsdale's newest show, Spectacular: a collection of elongated, primarily oil paintings he describes as pageantry mixed with brooding.
Intrigued by Indianapolis's racing scene, the Swan Lake ballet, French films, and local historical figures, Ragsdale embarked on what he admits is a fresh approach to his creative process.

American Reflections by Kyle Morgan |
For the month of July, Hank & Dolly's Gallery is exhibiting Kyle Morgan's newest body of work, titled American Reflections, an eclectic mix of pieces featuring historical imagery and American symbolism.
Morgan's work spans various mediums, including collages, watercolor, oil pastel, and pencil, as well recycled sculptures that take the form of shadow boxes or shrines, created from an eclectic collection of found objects. Gold, orange, and sepia tones weave throughout many of the pieces in the show, the warm colors giving a sense of nostalgia and retrospection.

| Meet the Intern: Kai Parrino |
"I love to paint, draw, and spray paint anything that comes to my mind, and make creative gifts for my friends. I plan to do graphic design when I head into college after I finish my last year of high school.
I plan on designing websites, icons, or billboards for businesses and anything in between. By interning this summer at the Harrison Center, I hope to learn more about what it is like to work in the field I am interested in and be more prepared for what the real world has to offer."
