Window Walk 2025: Application Open Now! |
This winter, our windows will tell tales! Harrison Center’s Window Walk theme for 2025 is “Folktales: Bringing Legends to Life”.
We invite you to dig into the rich world of myths, fairytales, and fables through vibrant art, light, and imagination! We're looking for stories from various cultures and the exciting tales that each of them brings. If chosen, your creation will become part of a magical, story-filled stroll through our community and be part of the juried selection for placement.
The first ($500), second ($250), and third ($100) place prizes will be awarded on December 5th during First Friday. Deadline for concept entries is Sunday, September 14th, by 11:59 PM.

Storytelling Drawing Session Partners with IPL |
This September and October, the Harrison Center is excited to partner with the Indianapolis Public Library for Storytelling Drawing Sessions, a weekly program that has been going strong for over four years.
Sessions will take place at the Spades Park Library branch throughout September. In October, they will move to the Martindale-Brightwood Library branch. Sessions will return to their regular time of 1:30–3:00pm, and you're welcome to join us, even if you can only stay for part of it!
These sessions feature long-term residents as live models, offering artists a unique opportunity to learn and capture their personal stories. Participants are encouraged to work in any medium, whether it's ink, writing, crocheting, painting, or another form of expression. Please bring your own materials if possible; a limited selection of supplies will also be available at the library.

What made Destiny shine? She had this great way of seeing stories everywhere. Art Patron Talk: Leanna Chroman |
In July, the Harrison Gallery showcased Where the Heart Is, a captivating exhibition of Kate Orr’s classical oil paintings. For many, Orr’s work feels familiar, her themes of family and companionship resonating deeply. For others, like Leanna Chroman, VP of Culture and Learning at Huse Culinary, the emotional impact came from a fresh and unexpected place. She was able to explore this connection more during Kate's Art Dish, an immersive fine art and dining experience.
The Harrison Center seeks to redefine what it means to be an art patron. Here, patrons aren’t just connoisseurs. They are learners, explorers, and community members at all stages of developing their artistic sensibilities. The center builds meaningful relationships with these individuals, inviting them to engage with art in personal, evolving ways.
