Food, Culture, & Community: R2GO

Andrew and I recently discovered one of downtown Indianapolis’ newest market and eateries called R2GO that is taking the local goodness of the Mass Ave. food scene north on College. R2GO, located at the corner of 11th and College, features a wide array of house-made items ranging from pasta, bread, and take-home dishes to fresh, locally sourced produce, and even local, farm-raised meat. 635545894759980235-rgo15

At R2GO, Andrew and I, along with our friend Chad, sat down for a nice lunch together at their quaint dining area. As we waited for our made to order sandwiches, we also spent a little time browsing through the eclectic selection of local foods R2GO offers in their market. Once our food was ready, we sat down and unwrapped the goodness of our flavorful meatball subs. It was like entering the saucy gates of marinara heaven.

After speaking with the friendly staff, we were assured that while some people might consider the servings at R2GO to be small, R2GO strives for quality over quantity, which they feel is a principle forgotten in most restaurants. All of their soups and sandwiches are guaranteed to satisfy your palate, and leave you wanting more.

As the brainchild of Regina Mehallick, R2GO is a seasonal marketplace for everything that is local in Indianapolis. Mehallick, who has an abundance of culinary expertise, began cooking when she was young and has since studied the culinary arts along the east coast of the United States, as well as in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2000, she settled in Indianapolis and took the Circle City by savory storm with her restaurant, R bistro. Now almost 15 years later, Mehallick has just embarked on her second edible endeavor, and boy are we glad she did!
