Inheriting Indianapolis

Painter Jed Dorsey is no stranger to the City Gallery. His paintings of urban Indy, from stunning night time scenes of the city Capital to sun-dappled neighborhood alleys have become favorites among new art patrons, seasoned buyers and lovers of all things Indy.

Dorsey grew up on scenic Camano Island, WA, surrounded by pine trees, mountains and shorelines. After living in picturesque Vancouver, BC for ten years, he and his family relocated to Indianapolis. During his first few years here, painting was something he did in his spare time, but recently, Dorsey made the decision to devote himself to painting full time. He can be seen all around the city painting day and night, often with fellow plein air painter friends.

In this current exhibit, Dorsey says he is looking at his "inherited" home town of Indy with fresh eyes. The show opens with an artist reception Friday, October 6 from 6 to 9pm and hangs through October 27.
