Maple Crossing Joy

Last week a large, enthusiastic crowd gathered under a big tent on the grounds of Butler University for Midtown Momentum to celebrate the achievements of the past year and future plans to improve the quality of life in Midtown Indianapolis. A group of Harrison Center artists and musicians have been creating work inspired by Maple Crossing, a Great Places 2020 neighborhood, and much of their work was on display. Music played and a voice, strong and clear, could be heard exclaiming: "Oh, joy is here now Joy in futures to come. Hope is here now Hope in futures to come."

What a perfect soundtrack to capture the momentum that is carrying the neighborhoods of Maple Crossing to a bright future.

Joy written and performed by Tucker Krajewski and Laura Davis

Lyrics:

Sugar Maples along the streams German families beneath the leaves Small in stature, but rich in means This small town wonders what it could be.

What would it take? Would it make it through the change?

Oh, joy is here now Joy in futures to come

Roads cut through to where we are Years of trying have left their scars Tears to show cries unheard Neighbors long for a hopeful word

What would it take? Would it make it through the change?

Oh, joy is here now Joy in futures to come. Hope is here now Hope in futures to come.

You have been faithful, you have been strong. So we thank you, the years have been long.

Oh, joy is here now Joy in futures to come. Hope is here now Hope in futures to come.
