If you keep your eyes open, you may see Josh Rush out and about on his bicycle with an easel and paint in tow as he is wrapping up for a new show. Rush's scenic, urban plein air paintings have been featured in the City Gallery many times since the gallery's 2011 opening, embodying what this exhibit space is all about--celebrating Indianapolis with place-based art.

While this new body of work will include some of the scenes we've come to expect from a Rush show, viewers will see something new as well. For this exhibit, inspired by the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, Rush will incorporate race cars painted from vintage photos found on the internet. Painting these cars was somewhat of a challenge for Josh as he has been considering moving his style of work in a different direction.
