Alternate Route by Phillip Lynam |
Fascinated by light and geometry, Lynam keeps his eyes peeled as he drives through his commute from the west side of Indianapolis to his job at the art museum. Often, he is inspired by architecture and snaps photos at red lights to capture his surroundings and reference his work.
Alternate Route is an act of responding for Lynam. He considers his daily life and art-making practice and asks himself, "What's sustaining about making work?" This exhibition in City Gallery showcases Indianapolis staples such as Longs Donuts, the Circle Monument, the Harrison Center's historic gym, and the Indy 500 pagoda.

THIS SATURDAY: Come to Bloombox Festival! |
Get ready, folks! Our biggest event of the year is happening THIS Saturday, June 21st. All throughout the day from 12-8pm, you can celebrate the talent of our local artists and musicians, take a spin at the rollerskating rink, grab a bite from a variety of food trucks, and browse homemade goods from over 80 local vendors. The best part? It's completely free!
We are celebrating in tandem with Make Music Day, where musicians of all ages and skill levels share their love of music with communities around the world. This is the third year Make Music Day will be recognized in Indianapolis as a city-wide event.

Underground Gallery: Liminal Wonder by Liz Nelson |
Liminal Wonder by Liz Nelson is about noticing the joy and beauty that comes from the in-between and from the mundane.
Nelson's work typically features bright colors and visual motifs such as lines, circles, and spaces. However, in this exhibition, Nelson strays from the vibrancy of past works, embracing the tones of the natural world and the world around us.
