Backlogged Dreams by Kaylan Buteyn |
Kaylan Buteyn's work evolution perfectly exemplifies how life reshapes our creative perspectives. She worked with digital photography, transitioned to painting during her MFA studies, and now embraces mixed media.
Her richly layered compositions use materials like paint, found quilt pieces, fabric, canvas, and ink. These pieces act as portals between past and present, weaving memory and material into tangible connections with both personal and collective histories.

Indy's First Yarn Graffiti Gang |
Driving along Delaware Street, you might notice colorful, flowery yarn wraps displayed on trees outside the Harrison Center. These "tree sweaters" were crocheted by Miss Linda Belton and her Yarn Graffiti Gang.
Miss Linda is a long-term resident of the Martindale Brightwood neighborhood and an innovative fiber artist. The Harrison Center also recognizes Miss Linda as a Greatriarch, someone who has helped write the story of the neighborhood. With help from members Destiny Tims, Mattie Kates, James LeFebvre, and Allison Schilawski, Miss Linda has led this project for the past two months.

Dive into Visual Rhythms, a show by Mike Meares |
Meares is inspired by the energy of music. He seeks to explore this in his acrylic paintings by using line, color, and visual rhythms to express the complexity of music and the emotional states that inspire songwriters.
Led by spontaneity and intuition, Meares' process often begins by making energetic marks inspired by whatever music he is listening to. The work is electric, buzzing with color and imagery of strange characters putting on a performance, each one an escape into a different world.
