Learn about Yourself with Rorschach Art |
What do you see when you look at an inkblot? A butterfly? A monster? Your mother's face? Painter Molly Wolfe turns that question into an invitation with her exhibition Double or Nothing. Using watercolor, gouache, and acrylic gouache on canvas and panel, Wolfe reinterprets the iconic Rorschach Test, the set of ten symmetrical inkblots devised by Swiss psychologist Herman Rorschach in 1921.
For Wolfe, this exhibition carries both personal and professional echoes spanning decades. As a sixteen-year-old student, she recalls her first experiment with inkblots, designing one on a wood panel that later hung in her college dorm. Years later, after her practice at Herron School of Art + Design evolved naturally toward symmetry, she recognized the resonance and circled back to the Rorschach with fresh eyes.

Full Circle: Chris Bowman’s Sculptural Journey |
For the month of September, the Gallery Annex proudly presents Circle², a quirky and introspective exhibition by Chris Bowman. Bowman primarily makes sculptures in the form of houses or barns as well as circles; the house forms are a symbol of dwelling that Bowman has always integrated into his work. Circle² is an expansion on the particular shapes represented in his past bodies of work.
"Working with wood allows opportunities to use multiple techniques. I utilize various textures, colors, and patterns with each piece.” Bowman's turning technique has evolved over time and allowed him to explore more patterns, shapes, and textures.
