While you are trying to decide what to do this weekend, you should add Art Squared to your list. It's a tradition in Fountain Square that started back in 2004, when it was only Masterpiece in a Day. Founded by Indianapolis artist Phil Campbell, the event is a day long, site-specific, multi-genre, one-day art competition in Fountain Square neighborhood.
In 2011, the Fountain Square Arts Council added the Fountain Square Art Fair and the Fountain Square Art Parade to the mix and created Art Squared. The whole neighborhood comes to life this Saturday, September 17th beginning at 9am with the Masterpiece in a Day art competition from 9 to 4, Art Fair from noon to 6, and finally, the Fountain Square Art Parade that starts at 5pm. It's a fun tradition to make a day of and there are plenty of places to get good food and drinks. You can find out more about the happenings here at fsartscouncil.org or here on Facebook.
